August 8, 2008

Ralph (Marsden Planet) was only able to attend the latter part of the show. Meanwhile, Soccerfan and I compiled the major portion of tonight's list.

David brought some spectacular tunage to the airwaves. In addition to lighting up the night in a way that only he can, David added some unusual mixes to spice up an already tingling hot set.

Thank you, David for making the wait to enter the Marsbar Theatre this week much more than worthwhile. Once again, we look forward to joining you same time, same place, next week. Cheers!

I think Mad Magazine is by Dee Long - definitely not Roger!

Thanks for posting tonight's (last night's??) list!

I am fixing it as we speak! :-)

My pleasure.

PS - if anyone can confirm whether or not the Alex Sweeton song was actually played, I would be very grateful. It mysteriously appeared on the Neilsen BDS list, but neither Ralph nor I could remember hearing it.

Miss Parker,

I will investigate later today. Alas, that will be a challenge as I have never heard Alex Sweeton before!

Hi Glen,

If you don't recall hearing it, then that makes three of us. I think it was some strange manifestation...a "Song from Beyond" perhaps? ;-)

Thanks again for your help!

Greetings, you two.

Here's a listing in chronological order during that sequence from approximately 11 pm until David played Supertramp's Brother Where You Bound..

Blancmange - Blind Vision

Elliott Randall - Post Toastee )David says that Elliott Randall played Post Toastee. David proceeds to mention Dlliott's guitar work with Steely Dan).

Commercial break.

David back from commercial break.

An instrumental song (no vocals) that is a minute and 25 seconds in duration.

Supertramp - Brother Where You Bound.

More mystery? Possibly!

Hi Glen!

Thank you for your excellent sleuthing skills. David mentioned the instrumental in the chatroom as being "Ciao" by The Spoons.

The big mystery for the night remains the Alex Sweeton listing that magically appeared on the BDS board. A message from the great beyond? Or just a technical glitch? We report, you decide.... ;-)

FLA is Front Line Assembly (if some readers were inquiring).

Thanks for the comments - finally getting around to replying to some of these. On the Elliott Randall/Tommy Bolin confusion - I can confirm 100% that the track that was played was Tommy Bolin and David got confused between the two artists.

Inquiring minds wanted to know, so I also updated the post to reflect FLA as Front Line Assembly :-)

Which song of mine was played on your show?

Thanks for the comment - I don't see a listing for Peter Boyd in this particular playlist, but David has often played the song 'If I Even Wake' which appears on a number of the playlists I've compiled over the past couple years. I believe one other Peter Boyd track has been played on David's show, but he seems to primarily feature 'If I Even Wake'

I left an additional comment in the Aug 7, 2008 playlist as after leaving the above comment I found the partially id'd song there.
